Cancer Education UK is a non-profit charity which raises awareness within the BAME, refugees and low socio- economic communities educating them about cancer.
We are searching for a volunteer Complementary Therapist, who is available for five hours a week to provide care for cancer patients. Please see the role description and requirement needed to apply for this volunteer position outlined below:
You’ll provide complementary therapies such as reflexology and aromatherapy to people who may be experiencing emotional distress, pain or psychological issues. Complementary therapists could work in a care home, health centre, hospice or in someone’s home. Your role might include:
- Building trusting relationships with people who need care and support
- Carrying out assessments to identify the treatments that people would most benefit from delivering therapies
- Evaluating the therapies and the impact they’ve had.
We expect you to be registered with an Accredited Register such as the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Must speak English and be articulate.
Must be confident, work well independently as well as a team member.
Must uphold clinic standards & protocol for safety, health & hygiene.
There are also some specific skills needed to work in this role. These include:
- Good listening skills
- The ability to put people at ease
- The ability to cope with emotional situations.
It is desirable to have some experience working or volunteering in a social care and health setting.
