Could you use your skills to help in Marie Curie's Newcastle hospice? By carrying out a specific therapy on patients and carers, you are helping to alleviate some of the physical and mental stress that they are experiencing. They welcome practitioners of a wide variety of complementary therapies. It is vital that you have completed an approved training scheme, are registered with a regulatory body, have current liability and indemnity insurance, and have at least one year's post-qualification experience.

Ideally you will also be registered with the CNHC.

To carry out a specific therapy on patients and carers as referred to the service. Volunteers must be committed to the principles of palliative care and its application in practice.

Therapies may be:

  • Acupuncture
  • Aromatherapy
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Massage (Swedish/Holistic/Indian Head /Remedial)
  • Reflexology
  • Reiki
  • Yoga and Relaxation

This role requires a disclosure check.

They are specifically looking for volunteers who are available at the following times: Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays - either 10am until 1pm or 10am until 3pm.
