In this role the volunteer will be carrying out specific therapies on patients and carers, helping to alleviate some of the physical and mental stress that they are experiencing. Newcastle Hospice welcome practitioners of a wide variety of complementary therapies. 


It is vital that they have completed an approved training scheme, are registered with a regulatory body, have current liability and indemnity insurance, and have at least one year's post-qualification experience.

Volunteers must be committed to the principles of palliative care and its application in practice.

Therapies may be:

  • Acupuncture
  • Aromatherapy
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Massage (Swedish/Holistic/Indian Head /Remedial)
  • Reflexology
  • Reiki
  • Yoga and Relaxation
