Susan Watson, CNHC registered Hypnotherapist and Local Champion, has been nominated in the Start Up of the Year category in the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards. This award celebrates the entrepreneurial aptitude, vision, ambition, drive and commercial acumen to build a successful start-up enterprise in Scotland.

Susan founded her company in early 2018 to help those with anxiety and self-esteem issues, including those who have been victims of trauma and domestic abuse. She undertook years of training while holding down her full-time job in financial services – often getting up at 4am to fit in study before work.

While working on a one-to-one basis with clients, Susan noticed an opportunity to introduce a preventative step to help them with their overall health and wellbeing. She could help them incorporate self-help tools to build an awareness of the messages received from the mind and body and how to understand them. They could then learn ways to calm these messages, increase focus and attention, and understand how to build resilience and confidence.

As there are often long delays for many children experiencing anxiety and stress, Susan set up workshops specifically designed for kids, mothers and fathers. She encourages them to spend time together relaxing and learning self-help tools to reduce anxiety, increase self-worth, confidence and resilience. Workshops have taken place in West Lothian College, Edinburgh College, Virgin Money, Sky and Lloyd Banking Group. She also offers free sessions to schools and groups for anti-bullying talks and has offered free support to local colleges.

The awards will be presented during a ceremony on Wednesday 18 September at the Grand Central House in Glasgow. Congratulations on your nomination Susan, we wish you the best of luck.
