Carol Granger

Carol is a practising Nutritional Therapist and Chair of the Nutritional Therapy Council (NTC). She has an NTC Certificate of Competence, is a member of the Nutrition Society and of the Society of Biology and a Chartered Biologist. Carol is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
She graduated in 1981 in biochemistry and completed her Master's degree in microbiology, both at the University of London. She worked in various roles in biomedical technology, research and management, including thirteen years in the medical devices industry and work in a human tissue bank, before changing career to nutritional therapy.
As well as her clinical work and NTC responsibilities, she is a guest lecturer on a nutritional therapy degree course. She is committed to regulation, raising standards and the development of the evidence base in complementary medicine.

After working in Further Education and Higher Education for several years, latterly as Programme  Leader, Christine set up Ethos (Education, Training, Health and Online Services Ltd).  Christine aspires to provide the best training in beauty and complementary health therapies delivered by UK and international industry leaders.  Business opportunities have taken Christine to South East Asia and Europe and her company  has been awarded contracts to deliver treatments for a number of organisations including a Primary Care Trust in the North East of England and NHS Direct.  Christine also works with clinics, hotels, salons and spas wishing to develop their own bespoke product range.

After 25 years in business and management development Kris became involved in complementary healthcare.  On attaining both educational and Shiatsu qualifications in 1991, he travelled through Southeast Asia, Japan and USA learning from masters of traditional oriental medicine.  In 1993 he founded the Zen School of Shiatsu, in 2009 the first to be accredited by the British Accreditation Council.  Kris sat on the Assessment Panel of the Shiatsu Society, before founding the Zen Shiatsu Society in 2002.  He was a founder member of the Shiatsu Regulatory Group and closely involved with Skills for Health writing the Shiatsu National Occupational Standard.  At 69 he is still active in Shiatsu.

Adam began studying Shiatsu and Chi Kung in 1990 and graduated from the British School of Shiatsu-Do in 1997. He has remained connected with the school and now teaches there.
Adam is also a qualified NLP practitioner using his interest in the ‘use of language' to continue his development as a teacher and lecturer. A registered member and teacher with the Shiatsu Society UK he continues to promote, teach, study and practice Shiatsu and Chi Kung both within the UK and Europe.

After receiving a PhD in Classical Archaeology at UCL she decided to dedicate most of her time to yoga.  She became an Iyengar yoga teacher in 1995 and after further training received her Junior Intermediate III in 2002.  She teaches at many UK institutions, especially at the Iyengar Yoga Institute, Maida Vale.  Her main interests are teaching children including those with special needs, and remedial work.  She is a regular visitor to the mother Institute of Iyengar yoga in Pune (India).  Since 2009 she is a PSB member for yoga therapy at the CNHC.


Alexander Technique teaching

Estella has been teaching the Alexander Technique since 1992. She is a member of both the Interactive Teaching Method Association & the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique, both of which are Professional Associations which represent registered members of the CNHC. Estella recognises how rich & diverse the Alexander Technique profession is in terms of different styles & approaches to teaching. She respects the accomplishments of the many different approaches and believes that the public is best served by having access to a profession with a diversity of approaches. Having worked as a coordinator and assistant for a Teacher Training course, Estella is very interested in raising the standard of education and training across the whole profession.

Rose is a practising Alexander Teacher with the Professional Association of Alexander Teachers. She qualified in 1996, taught for a number of years in private practice and is an assistant training course director on PAAT's training course.  She is also part of the team delivering PAAT's CPD training. She was Chair of PAAT from 2002-6.
She lectures in Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham , where her research  interests and teaching specialisms include the Alexander Technique and actor training.
She has been involved with the regulation process since its beginning and is committed to raising standards of training in teaching the Alexander Technique and to research into the scientific principles on which the Technique is based.


Bowen Technique

Gillie is married and has one son at university.
Having been cured of severe and disfiguring psoriasis by homoeopathy as a child of 11 Gillie had maintained an interest in Complementary therapies, so after a rewarding career in Educational and Charity Administration and International Conference organising, when Gillie discovered  Bowen in 1995, she trained with Julian Baker and Ossie Rentsch.  She has run a busy Bowen practice ever since, working alone, in clinics and inhouse in companies.  Her ‘specialities' are Bowen for fertility issues and emotional issues.
Gillie has served as Chair of BTER and Chair of the Bowen Forum.

Sarena Baxter Armstrong

Sarena graduated in General Nursing and Midwifery in Cape Town South Africa, before immigrated to Germany where she worked in Sport and Reconstructive Surgery. She completed a 2-year course in Operating Theatre Science in Switzerland followed by years working for Orthopaedic Suppliers in Trauma and Orthopaedic Reconstruction Surgery.
She developed an interest in alternative therapies and undertook a course in Shiatsu Therapy. After relocating to London she trained in Bowen Technique undertaking further education in this modality.
Sarena is also a trained Volunteer Tutor of Islington PCT "Expert Patients Self-Management Program" for patients living with long term health conditions.

Jennifer Wayte

Jennifer Wayte has been actively involved in the therapy industry for more than 15 years, initially as a practitioner, then later as a trainer, assessor and verifier for different educational establishments of further and higher education. She is the President of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), instrumental in the education development of the GCMT and Sports and Remedial Therapy professional forum, a PSB in Sports and Remedial Therapies for the CNHC, an advisor to the Skills for Health and Skills Active strategy boards, Governor of an NHS Trust and a former member of the Federal Working Group, the forerunner to the CNHC. In each of these positions, she has been instrumental in the development of therapy standards and regulation, and protecting the interests of professional therapists. 
Jennifer also runs her own Education Consultancy Business.

Mel Cash has been a leading Sport & Remedial massage therapist since 1985. He has the widest clinical experience ranging from elite athletes and dancers through to clients with disabilities and terminal illness. He is the founder and principal tutor of the London School of Sports Massage (since 1989) and director of the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage. He is a leading international author with his forth textbook due out in 2011, and has been a guest presenter in several countries. He is also still a recreational athlete who receives regular massage.

Dr Harald Gaier 

Dr. Harald C. Gaier is a Naturopathic Physician, Osteopath, Homeopath, Acupuncturist and Medical Herbalist. Member of the RSM, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health, amongst many others.  
Readily sought after by others on matters relating to complementary and alternative medical and diagnostic techniques, Dr Gaier has been regularly publishing peer-reviewed papers on a multitude of topics ranging from gut-related medical research to medical economics and has founded and since chaired the General Naturopathic Council. As such he was also a member of the working group that established CNHC.
