Board Members: Maggy Wallace (Chair), Maggie Dunn, John Lant Ivor Brecker Ivor's professional background was in dentistry, initially in practice and then as a Clinical Inspector with the Dental Practice Board, determining quality and necessity of treatment and investigating complaints. He gained a law degree and a Masters in Legal Aspects of Medical Practice. On retirement, Ivor became lay member of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and then lay member of the Nutritional Therapy Council. Angela Deacon Angela is a solicitor who has been running her own private practice for 30 years. She served on the Law Society Council (the governing body for Solicitors) for 11 years, dealing with the governance of the profession. She also sat on the Compliance Board of the Law Society for a number of years addressing issues of regulation and professional discipline. At present she chairs the Architects Registration Board Regulatory hearings, which deal with the regulation of Architects. She took an interest in complementary healthcare following her involvement with the Shakespeare Hospice and is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hospice. Heather Goodwill Heather has been a Therapy Radiographer for over 20 years. At present she is the manager of the Holistic Cancer Care Centre in Middlesbrough. The Centre is a charity that provides complementary therapies, support and information for cancer patients and their carers, dealing with cancer diagnosis and their treatment side effects. She has been a magistrate since 1989 and will bring her experiences of sitting on the bench and the Advisory Committee to this exciting new role as a member of the Conduct and Competence Committee. Alan Peacock After graduating, Alan pursued a career in public sector management and administration in a variety of organisations, including the civil service and local government. From 1992, Alan worked in statutory regulation: first, for the General Medical Council and then for the Architects Registration Board. Alan joined the Chartered Institute of Linguists in September 2007 as Director of Membership. One of his immediate tasks was to work with volunteers and staff to ensure the successful launch of the new Chartered Linguist scheme. Alan has also assumed responsibility for the National Register of Public Service Interpreters as Registrar.
